The Art Cellar Gallery focuses on North Carolina artists while including others from across the Southeast, showing work from large scale canvases to smaller works on paper, also including sculpture, wood, glass and clay. A high country arts destination celebrating 26 seasons, The Art Cellar Gallery is located on Hwy. 184 in Banner Elk and is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm.

The Art Cellar Gallery & Framemakers invite the public to enjoy this season-long lineup of important High Country art events. All events are free and open to the public. For more information contact the gallery online at www.artcellaronline.com or by phone at 828-898-5175.

Two Views
New Clay Works featuring Pam Brewer and Lisa Stinson
May 17 - June 2
Artists Pam Brewer and Lisa Stinson set the stage in the Art Cellar Gallery’s first show of the season with their clay works. Pam Brewer creates fun and whimsical pieces, including animals and local flora, from hand built clay. Lisa Stinson combines form and function in her texture platter series and new functional drink ware making its debut this season.
Opening Reception - Saturday, May 26, from 4-6 p.m.

High Country Visions
Margaret Salisbury
June 7 - June 30
North Carolina artist Margaret Salisbury enjoys the outdoors and finds her inspiration in the mountains of North Carolina. This show will feature all new works, from critters to landscapes of the North Carolina high country.
Opening Reception - Saturday June 9, from 4-6 p.m.

Variations on a Theme
Gregory Smith and Tim Turner
July 5 - July 28
Friends and artists, Gregory Smith and Tim Turner have been with the Art Cellar Gallery for over 10 years. This dynamic duo will be exploring the fluctuations from one painting to the next in a show that represents the artists mind through paint, thought and execution.
Opening Reception - Saturday, July 7, from 4-6 p.m.

An Approach to the Meaning of Art
An afternoon with the artist Noyes Capehart
Noyes Capehart is back with an informative talk into the depths of his work and an approach to the meaning of art. Noyes will also be discussing and sharing his new book, “Cheap Joe," written with and about fellow artist and friend, Joe Miller of Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff.
Artist talk and book signing - Sunday, July 15 from 2-4 p.m.

Visual Energy
Book Signing with Zoey Brookshire
Artist Zoey Brookshire will speak about her new book, Visual Energy and the thought process behind the book’s featured works therein. A questioning of why certain images stay with us and why others fade away.

Master of Realism
David Birmingham
August 2 - August 25
Originally from England, David Birmingham has been painting for over 60 years. Pathways, country roads, and shaded lanes, lead viewers into his realistic paintings and welcome exploration of serene scenes, allowing the imagination to move beyond the approaching curve or past the next grove of trees. Collectors and admirers will be thrilled to see new works during this special show.

Annual Cocktails and Conversations
An afternoon with artist William Dunlap
William Dunlap will be joining the Art Cellar Gallery again this year for his annual Cocktails and Conversation. Dunlap will discuss the relationship of his work as a visual artist to his work as a writer. He will also give readings from previously unpublished works and unveil information about an upcoming book.

Bold Scapes
Joseph Cave
August 30 - October 6
Bold colors and broad brush strokes are a few characteristics by which artist Joseph Cave’s paintings can be defined. His colorful palate, recognizable landscapes and florals visually pulsate off the canvas.

Open House with artist Tim Turner
Artist Tim Turner is back for another wonderful Thanksgiving weekend Pottery Showcase!
